Santa Anita Park is a Thoroughbred racetrack in Arcadia, California, United States. It offers some of the prominent horse racing events in the United States during early fall, winter and in spring.
The track is home to numerous prestigious races including both the Santa Anita Derby and the Santa Anita Handicap as well as hosting the Breeders’ Cup.
Famous for its Art Deco-style architecture and its stunning views of the majestic San Gabriel Mountains, Santa Anita Park is also widely acclaimed as one of the most beautiful racetracks in the world.
The track opened on Christmas Day, 1934 and in 2006 was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Known as “The Great Race Place,” Santa Anita Park is one of the world’s preeminent racetracks and a frequent host of the Breeders’ Cup World Championship. It is considered one of the shrines of Thoroughbred horse racing.
Santa Anita is situated on 305 acres of land approximately 14 miles northeast of Los Angeles, one of the largest markets in the US, and can accommodate up to 80,000 fans for live racing.
